In Week 16 we have a match-up that will certainly effect the play-offs a good bit. The Red Sox(7-8) VSing the Tribe(8-7). Obviously this is a pivotal week for both teams, as Andy and the Sox don't want to fall to 7-9 and fall too far off the Wild Card pace. Though, those Sox are on a 3 game win streak, so I like their chances. The Tribe, will try and stay above .500. With a win they will push themselves to 9-7, and secure a wild card spot, for now. However, they are on a 4 game skid.
Two teams on two different streaks, looking for the same playoff spot, going head to head. Going to be a thriller.
Let's depict the Indians first, shall we. Owner Mike McGhee, who likes to jam out playing Guitar Hero( See his picture, you lazy reader), is going to try his best to end this 4 game skid. He missed out on a great chance to gain a game back from the Rays last week, but failed to cash in when he lost to the Evil Empire(558-471.5). The Tribe have 8 potential 2-start pitchers. Sheesh, 8. Among them are 'the ace' CC Sabathia, then 'middle of the roaders' like: David Huff, Vincente Padilla, Jamie Moyer, Brian Bannister, Collin Balester, Bronson Arroyo, and Randy Wolf. All good options for two starts, and all should rack up some good points. I would not be the least bit surprised if the Tribe total 700 plus this week. Especially with a lineup like they have: Brandon Inge, Victor Martinez, Brain Roberts, Chone Figgins, Jason Bartlett, Mark Derosa, Shin-Soo Choo, Bobby Abreu, etc etc. Man, do I feel 700 points or what?
Now, to the Nation. The Sox, and owner Andy Popp, have been on a roll of late. They have proven to be a very streaky team, starting out 3-1, then going 1-7, then now are 3-0 over the last 3 weeks. The question just is, will they stay hot? Or will they go cold? Well, Josh Beckett, Clay Buchholz, and Jason Berken(all 2 start pitchers) would like to stay hot. However, the 8-3 advantage the Tribe have on 2-start pitchers is over-whelming; however, the Sox lineup sure can make up for that dis-advantage.
Ever since Manny Ramirez has been back this team has been great. Certainly more balanced. (Is it coincidence they are 6-1 when he isn't suspended? Probably, but it's cool to think he is the 'Straw That Stirs the Drink'.) Anywho, the lineup of Mike Napoli, Kendry Morales, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youuuuukilis, Sexy Alexei Ramirez, Manny, Jacoby(An Indian himself)Ellsbury, Alex Rios, Nelson Cruz, and Big Papi among others, are up for the challenge of putting up big numbers.
Just, the question is, which team will put up more points? I feel as if this one will be a slugfest, and a very high scoring one at that. After taking a peek into the future, I saw this one finishing with a final of: 712-696, the Cleveland Indians on top. Believe you me, it will be a close battle, but ultimately, the Tribe, and their 8 2-start pitchers, will come out on top, by a slim margin.
But go ahead, prove me wrong Sox!
*Review to come out Monday, the 3rd.

Perfection. That's how you sum this match-up up. Mark Buehrle twirled a Perfect Game on Thursday afternoon. That was good enough for 111 points. Yes, 111 points. By himself. Most teams will be lucky if the surpass 111 points on any given day. Buehrle, did it by himself. Boy oh boy is this a good one or what. The top two scoring teams meet again. I say again, because their previous matchup resulted in 1,350 + points. However, the Champs, ended up with a stellar 712.5 points. The other side of the boxscore put up 626. With the 1st half of the season in the books, it's time to check out the standings, and really predict who is a contender, and who is a pretender. The division that sticks out to me as being the 'toughest'(and this may be biased, but) is the NL West. It is the only division that has 3 teams well over .500. Here is an interesting division. You have the league champs from last year.............wait, just kidding ;).....you have the runner-ups from last year at the top of the division with a 9-5 record. Then the next 3 teams are tied for second with 6-8 records. Let's break it down, shall we: In this blog, we will depict the American League West. The West is highlighted by the best team in the league, the champs, the Tampa Bay Rays. There is no more doubt as to who is the top team, it is clearly the Rays. Last, but certainly not least, is the East. The American League East that is. Naturally thought of as the best division in real baseball. Like real baseball though, the fantasy league is very good as well. I didn't join the MLB Dynasty League until the off-season, after the first year. Some little kid, yes I can say kid cause he was younger than me, owned the team. Saying he did a horrible job is giving him too much credit. He had key pieces like Hanley Ramirez, Tim Lincecum, Chase Utley, etc and he only managed to win 3 games. Well, I shouldn't say 'managed' as it seems he didn't do much of, or any managing. He also, like a pure fool, traded the 24 year old(at the time) Hanley Ramirez. That probably isn't the smartest thing to do in a Dynasty League like this. He got decent value in return; Jimmy Rollins, Vladimir Guerrero, and Casey Kotchman. Which I guess you can say gave him pretty good depth. But still, it's Hanley Ramirez. |
AuthorYou all know me, Phil Urban, owner of the Marlins in the MLB league. As well as the Eagles in both NFL leagues. I'm the youngest of the group, and perhaps the only one unable to go buy a beer at the bar. But, that doesn't stop me from whoopin' you all in fantasy ;). Archives
