I guess having a guy like Omar Gaither, who's had experience as the MLB before Bradley, is a good thing to have. But, he struggled a good deal last year, and was replaced by Akeem Jordan for the last 6 weeks or so. So, how well will he do this year? Certainly won't be on Bradley's level(Bradley had 108 solo tackles, and 151 total tackles). So, now the Eagles role with a LB core of; Chris GoCong, Omar Gaither, and Akeem Jordan. Not good. Dawkins is no longer flying around in the defensive backfield, and will be replaced by ball-hawk Sean Jones. However, he was pretty bad last season for Cleveland, can he learn the defense? Can he perform well enough? Can he handle the pressure of replacing a Philadelphia Idol? That all remains to be seen.
All in all, I have a feeling that this will be the first time in a long time(10 years in fact, since JJ took over) that the Eagles fail to rank in the top 10 for overall defense. Guys like Trent Cole and Asante Samuel are going to be key for the Eagles, in my opinion. If both can stay healthy, and play all 16 games, than maybe they can save the defense. I hope Sean McDermott can use JJ's system, and use it well. In the past, the Eagles have had less talented defenses, and JJ has saved them. Can Scott do that this year? Can he do it for the next 10 years.....I sure hope so.
